Keep my feet from slipping!

(I just love this song – Your feets too big! – and our psalm this week of May  17 talks about FEET!  Really!)

Psalm 66 verses 8 and 9:  Bless our God, O peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept us among the living,
and has not let our feet slip.

This Thursday, our “What is God Saying Today?” Zoom meeting will focus on these comforting words – God has not let our feet slip!

How has God kept your feet from slipping? Do you have foot or shoe stories to share with the group? Bring your stories, and your shoes (yes I want you to hold them up to the camera during the zoom meeting).

Sometimes the scriptures, especially the psalms, talks in ‘churchy’ terms about God saving the multitudes, and preserving our life! But its pretty practical to say God has not let our feet slip. I think of the people of Israel in the desert, with sandals on the dusty roads, but that land is filled with rugged terrain, and the action of Not letting our feet slip makes all the difference between staying healthy, and ending up in a heap at the bottom of a cliff!

I love to hike, and have had to adapt the last 15 years, as my knees have deteriorated, to stay safe on the trails. I have hiking shoes now (ok they are 8 years old now, but still great), and hiking poles, all designed to keep me from falling. Cause if I fall, its going to be bad, maybe broken bones, and my hiking days will be curtailed. But, God is good, and has kept me upright, giving me good instincts to feel when those shoes start to slip, and to compensate to stay upright.

How is God keeping you upright in these days of pandemic? Have you felt your feet slip a bit? Are you seeing your neighbor’s slipping? How can we help?

Bring your thoughts, and ideas to our zoom meeting 5 pm PST Thursday, May 14th. If you need the zoom link, check your email blast, or private message me to get it! – God bless you! – Pastor Patricia Hughes
